We believe that friendship, respect, and participation are central to a positive learning environment. When your child joins Burgmann so do you. We welcome your entire family into our community.

We exist because our community, parents just like you, wanted a school like Burgmann Anglican School. Many of our parents, carers, and friends volunteer their time to help with different activities and events around the school. Some get involved by reading in the classroom or donating goods for the annual Anglicare appeal. Others take on a more formal role or make their contribution by participating in the Professional Connections Program.

No matter how you wish to be involved there will be something for you, from the cooking a BBQ to working in the Canteen to helping with the Musical or assisting with co-curricular sporting activities – we welcome all types of participation.

Volunteering

All volunteers at Burgmann Anglican School must have current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration. You may apply for a WWVP check through Access Canberra. Click here to apply.

When you have received your WWVP card, please read the Burgmann Anglican School Volunteers Code of Conduct and complete the Volunteer Declaration. The completed Volunteer Declaration and your WWVP card must be presented at the Valley or Forde Front Office prior to commencing any volunteering activities.

Please note that you will not be able to engage in any volunteer activities until you have completed this process. Any questions about volunteering at Burgmann Anglican School can be sent to office@burgmann.act.edu.au

Parent Forums

We host a parent forum each term with a different topic of interest. From time to time, we will also invite parents to attend free workshops or seminars with speakers like Dr Justin Coulson. At Burgmann, we want our parents to be informed partners as we walk together to educate and nurture the young adults in our community.

Friendraising not Fundraising

As a young school, we 'do' parents and friends a little differently at Burgmann. We want our parents and our community to truly become friends, to have opportunities where they can get to know each other and have some fun. From time to time, we will run events and activities, some big, some small, that are designed to bring people together. We know that family friendly events are appreciated and we are happy to hear ideas. We hope you understand if we can't always action every single one! There is no pressure to raise funds although we do appreciate your support of any student driven initiatives such as the Anglicare Pantry Appeal or the World's Greatest Shave.
